Stanford Medicine
About
The Clinical Anatomy Summer Program (CASP) is designed to provide high school students with an authentic and rigorous introduction to human anatomy and various medical specialties. Its mission is to bridge the gap between classroom science and clinical practice by allowing students to study human anatomy through the use of real human anatomical specimens and cadavers. Over the course of a week, participants attend lectures by Stanford Medicine faculty, engage in hands-on anatomy lab activities, and observe complex surgical demonstrations. A unique value of the program is its surgical skills workshops, where students practice dissection and suturing techniques on animal tissue under professional guidance. The program also features guest speakers from diverse fields—such as biomedical engineering, nursing, and physical therapy—to help students visualize different career paths within the healthcare ecosystem. Ultimately, CASP provides a high-level preview of the medical school experience in a professional, clinical setting.
