About
The Genomics Research Internship Program at Stanford (GRIPS) is an eight-week summer intensive designed to immerse high school students in the fields of genetics and genomics. The program’s mission is to provide highly talented students with a unique research experience, professional development, and community-building opportunities within a world-class medical institution. Participants are placed in active research laboratories where they conduct genomics research for 20 hours per week under the direct supervision of a lab mentor. Beyond laboratory work, the program includes weekly required cohort sessions and regular check-in meetings to support student growth and networking. It is specifically designed as an entry-level opportunity, encouraging students with no prior internship or computer science experience to explore biomedical research. The 2026 session is structured as a hybrid experience, blending on-campus laboratory work with remote group workshops to provide a comprehensive view of modern scientific inquiry.
