The Rockefeller University
About
The Summer Science Research Program (SSRP) at The Rockefeller University provides high school juniors and seniors with an immersive introduction to biomedical research. The program's mission is to foster scientific curiosity and technical skill through a team-based model that mirrors the structure of a professional research laboratory. Each summer, 32 scholars are divided into four research teams, each led by dedicated scientist-mentors from Rockefeller University, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and Weill Cornell Medicine. Students begin by learning laboratory norms and techniques before selecting and investigating a specific research question related to their team’s topic. Over seven weeks, participants analyze data and ultimately present their findings at a final symposium. The experience is further enriched by elective courses, guest lectures, and networking opportunities within the scientific community.
