Young Nebraska Scientists
About
Young Nebraska Scientists (YNS) is a comprehensive STEM initiative designed to provide middle and high school students with hands-on exposure to advanced scientific concepts and laboratory environments. The program’s mission is to strengthen Nebraska’s future STEM workforce by connecting youth with professional researchers and university faculty. Students can participate in specialized summer camps covering topics such as food science, or apply for intensive summer research positions at University of Nebraska campuses. These opportunities allow participants to engage in authentic scientific inquiry, utilize professional-grade equipment, and gain a realistic preview of STEM careers. YNS also provides need-based scholarships to ensure that financial barriers do not prevent qualified students from accessing high-quality science education.
