ASTA
About
The ASTA National Conference serves as the flagship event for string education in the United States, aiming to advance the standards of string teaching and performance through collaboration and expert instruction. For middle and high school students, the conference offers the prestigious National Orchestra Festival, where selected ensembles perform for ratings and receive intensive clinics from world-class adjudicators. Additionally, individual students can apply for masterclasses to receive personalized coaching from elite string faculty, or attend the "Student Day" to participate in sessions focused on collegiate preparation and professional development. The program’s unique value lies in its ability to connect young musicians with the broader professional string community and provide a high-stakes, professional performance environment. Core activities include competitive performances, pedagogical sessions, masterclass coaching, and access to an extensive exhibit hall featuring world-renowned luthiers and publishers.
