SOCAPA
About
The Advanced Filmmaking intensive at SOCAPA is a three-week program designed for student filmmakers who want to elevate their craft and create professional-grade portfolio pieces. The mission of the program is to provide a rigorous, collaborative environment where students move beyond basic techniques to focus on advanced cinematography, sound design, and narrative directing. Core activities include writing, directing, and editing two polished short films using state-of-the-art 4K video cameras and industry-standard Adobe Premiere software. Students benefit from one-on-one advisements with professional faculty who have experience in the film festival circuit and the commercial industry. By emphasizing visual storytelling—often inspired by masters like Hitchcock and Kurosawa—the program helps students produce high-quality work suitable for film festival submissions and college applications. The unique value of the program lies in its balance of technical mastery and artistic mentorship within the world's major media hubs.
