Art, Community, Education and Science Internship
About
The ACES internship is designed to bridge the gap between practical work experience, informal STEAM education, and artistic expression. Interns primarily support Wave Hill’s Family Art Project, an intergenerational program where they help families create nature-inspired art. Throughout the 13-month duration, participants facilitate educational activities, assist with family storytime, and engage the public in science-informed arts education. The program emphasizes professional growth, requiring interns to participate in mandatory training sessions and workshops focused on college readiness and career paths in the arts and sciences. As a capstone project, interns work collaboratively to design and execute their own weekend workshop for Wave Hill visitors. The experience also includes field trips to other cultural institutions to broaden the interns' understanding of informal education and nonprofit operations.
