Buffalo Healthcare Exploration (BHE)
About
The Buffalo Healthcare Exploration (BHE) program is a three-week summer experience designed to introduce high school students to high-tech opportunities and diverse careers within the medical field. Its mission is built on six core pillars: innovation, compassion for the community, empathy, visualization of complex concepts, education, and career path understanding. Participants learn in a fast-paced environment at an NCI-designated cancer center, engaging in activities such as simulated robotic surgery, endoscopy demonstrations, and laboratory research tours. The program aims to foster the "soft skills" necessary for patient connection while providing technical exposure to medical innovation. Students also complete a "Storyboard Project" to document and present their learning journey and professional development.
