University of Southern Maine
About
The University of Southern Maine's Early College Programs are designed to bridge the gap between secondary and post-secondary education by allowing high school students to experience university-level academics. The program's mission is to enhance college access and affordability for Maine students by leveraging state and institutional waivers to significantly reduce tuition costs. Students can choose to take courses "On-Campus/Online" alongside traditional college students or through "Concurrent Enrollment," where USM-approved courses are taught by qualified instructors within their own high schools. This dual-enrollment model provides students with the unique value of earning transferable college credits while still in high school, effectively lowering the total time and financial investment required for a future degree. Beyond coursework, the program grants students access to vital university resources, including academic advising and the Learning Commons, to ensure they are supported during their first foray into higher education.
