International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA)
International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics
About
The mission of the International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics is to promote interest in astronomy and astrophysics among high school students and to foster international friendship and cooperation among young scientists. It provides a unique platform for the world's most talented students to challenge themselves against a rigorous academic standard that far exceeds typical high school curricula. The core activities consist of four main sections: a theoretical exam covering complex astrophysical concepts, a data analysis task involving real astronomical data, an observational exam (often using telescopes or a planetarium), and a team competition. By bringing together students from over 50 countries, the program offers significant cultural exchange alongside its intense academic focus.
