International Academic Competitions
About
The National Geography Bee is a premier academic competition for students in the Varsity and Junior Varsity divisions, focused on testing comprehensive knowledge of world geography. Organized by International Academic Competitions (IAC), the program covers political, human, cultural, and physical geography through a rigorous multi-stage format. Students begin by participating in a Qualifying Stage, which involves either a 50-question multiple-choice exam or a regional buzzer-based tournament. Those who succeed advance to the National Championships in Arlington, VA, where they compete in fast-paced, buzzer-based quiz rounds. Success in the national competition also serves as a pathway to the International Geography Championships, offering high-achieving students the chance to represent their state or country on a global stage. This program provides a unique platform for geography enthusiasts to develop their expertise and connect with a community of high-achieving peers.
