About

PROMYS Europe is a six-week residential summer program held at the University of Oxford, designed to encourage mathematically gifted students to explore the creative world of mathematics. The program’s mission is to provide a supportive community where students, counselors, and mathematicians engage in intensive, open-ended mathematical inquiry. The core activity is a daily lecture on Number Theory, which serves as a gateway for participants to discover complex mathematical concepts through their own investigations. Students spend most of their time working on problem sets that emphasize deep understanding and proof-writing rather than speed or memorization. This unique approach is modeled after the parent PROMYS program at Boston University and is enriched by its partnership with Wadham College, the Mathematical Institute at Oxford, and the Clay Mathematics Institute. By living and working together, participants develop lifelong connections with a global network of peers and professional mathematicians.
