About

The Research Science Institute (RSI) is an intensive six-week summer program that gathers 100 of the world’s most accomplished high school juniors at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Its mission is to combine rigorous on-campus coursework in scientific theory with the practical application of science and technology research. Students participate in a week of STEM classes led by distinguished professors before beginning a five-week research internship under the mentorship of experienced scientists. Throughout the program, scholars experience the complete research cycle, which includes reviewing current literature, executing a research plan, and presenting findings through conference-style oral and written reports. RSI is notable for being the first cost-free summer program of its kind, offering unique value by providing elite research resources and networking opportunities without financial barriers.
