About
The Rice Bio Academies mission is to provide middle and high school students with an immersive, hands-on introduction to the rapidly evolving fields of biotechnology, biomedical science, and engineering design. The program offers a unique value by granting students access to Rice University’s cutting-edge laboratories and expertise from faculty and graduate researchers. Core activities vary by track and include exploring muscular and skeletal systems, building functional prosthetic prototypes, performing DNA extractions, and conducting bacterial transformations. Beyond technical skills, the program emphasizes a growth mindset and emotional intelligence by connecting participants with professional mentors and role models in STEM.
