San Diego State University
About
The SDSU Robotics Camp is a week-long summer initiative designed to provide middle and high school students with immersive exposure to engineering and computer science at no cost. Its mission is to democratize access to high-level STEM education, specifically focusing on coding in Scratch and Python, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and renewable energy. Students engage in core activities such as assembling and programming MBot Mega robots, learning to fly and program drones, and participating in team-building exercises like egg drops. A unique value of the program is its integration with the SDSU campus, offering students tours of professional engineering labs, such as the SMILE Lab and the Aerospace Engineering Lab, and opportunities to interact with university faculty and guest speakers. The curriculum concludes with a robotics competition, allowing students to apply their newly acquired skills in a practical, high-energy environment.
