Outset
About
Outset Anesthesiology is a intensive one-week residential summer program designed to provide high school students with a realistic preview of a career in anesthesiology. The program’s mission is to help students explore the medical field early, allowing them to make informed decisions about their future education and career paths. Participants engage in various core activities, including hands-on clinical simulations, suturing workshops, and IV preparation labs guided by medical professionals. Beyond technical skills, students attend seminars led by MDs and medical faculty to understand the day-to-day responsibilities and the long-term educational requirements of the specialty. The program provides unique value by hosting students on prestigious university campuses, such as UCLA and Columbia, offering a glimpse into college life while they build a network of like-minded peers. Ultimately, the experience serves as a robust extracurricular that helps students demonstrate a committed interest in medicine on future college applications.
