USA Mathematical Talent Search (USAMTS)

The USAMTS is designed to foster deep mathematical thinking and improve the proof-writing skills of middle and high school students. Unlike traditional "sprint" competitions like the AMC 10/12, the USAMTS provides students with approximately one month to solve each round of problems, encouraging the use of books and reference materials to find solutions. The program consists of three rounds per year, with each round featuring five challenging problems that range from logical puzzles to rigorous mathematical proofs. A unique and highly valued core activity of the program is the personalized written feedback provided by graders, which helps students refine their mathematical communication and logic. Beyond the educational value, the program serves as an official pathway for high-achieving students to qualify for the American Invitational Mathematics Examination (AIME).
