About
The Next Generation STEM Internship Program (NGSI) is designed to provide high school students with immersive experiences in real-world scientific research at one of the nation’s premier laboratories. Its mission is to cultivate the next generation of STEM professionals by pairing local students with world-renowned scientists and engineers. During the summer session, interns participate in full-time projects, while spring and fall sessions offer part-time, virtual opportunities. Core activities include contributing to lab-based research, attending professional development workshops, and participating in laboratory tours and lectures. Students also have the opportunity to engage in networking events and present their findings through poster sessions at the end of their appointment. The program offers a unique value by providing a weekly stipend, ensuring that financial barriers do not prevent local talent from accessing high-level scientific mentorship.
